The first interview with the new Lebanese abroad comer, Charles Tabet (203-C, college: S.Alabama). Charles signed for Anibal Zahle for the 2010-2011 season:
1)What is like playing pro basketball for a new standout of the NCAA?A- While playing in the NCAA its everybody dream/goal to make it to the professional level, and Iam very blessed that I was given the opportunity to play in Lebanon.
2)Whats the difference btw American basketball (NCAA) and the Lebanese/international one ?A- Ive only been here a month now but I can see a slight difference is that the NCAA is a little more structured/organized. Also with NCAA it is mandatory to be a student athlete, it is very important to focus on school and at the same time also basketball. Where in Lebanon you can only focus on basketball.
3)You had first a short stint with Sagesse what happened? Why didnt you sign although a lot of reports have claimed that your close to?A- Sagesse is a great club, and one day I would love to play for them. Paul Atallah and the PMA agency did a great job in finding the best team and contract for me in my first year of playing professionally.
4)Now your with Anibal Zahle , how do you find the team ? and what do you expect in your first season abroad?A- I really enjoy the team, we are starting to gell more together each and everyday. Our coaching staff and president are great. Im really excited to start my first season in Zahle, everybody is like family here.
5) How do you evaluate the Lebanese basketball level ? and what is like playing for your mother country?A- The Lebanese basketball level is good, you can tell the players grow up playing basketball and end up playing professionally. It has been my dream to play for Lebanon. I have my family in bhamdoun and I cant wait to play infront of them, they have never seen me play.
6)Lebanon National team has participated 3 times in the World Championship (2002/2006/2010) , are you looking to represent Lebanon internationally?A- Of course, I would love to play for the National team one day! (I will do my best to catch the attention of Coach Baldwin this season)
7)You have a twin brother who also is a basketball player, will he come soon to play in Lebanon?A- I sure hope so! He is at the University of Arkansas being a grad-assistant. I hope after next year he will come and play.
8)What do you say to the Lebanese fans?A- Ive had a lot of Lebanese supporters through this whole process and Id like to say thank you to them all. Im very excited to play in Lebanon, it will be a fun/exciting career and hope to have all the support from our fans.
