The two nations were drawn together in Group B of the tournament, for which Lebanon will act as hosts next month.
Jordan, who finished third at the FIBA Asia Championship last year to earn their ticket to Turkey, enter the competition as the defending champions after winning the 2008 edition in Kuwait.
However, they had to be handed a wild-card to be entered at all, a decision FIBA Asia Deputy Secretary General Hagop Khajirian said was easy to make.
"It is logical, isnt it?" he said. "We had one slot vacant. It was obvious that a team representing FIBA Asia in the FIBA World Championship deserves to get that slot more than any other team. And let's not forget Jordan will defend their title when they play in this competition."
And Khajirian believes the presence of Jordan has helped create a draw to excite fans.
"The fray for the 3rd FIBA Asia Stankovic Cup is the most competitive in all the three editions of this event," he said.
"My opinion is that the draw, which is rather well balanced, only augurs well for the high-pitched battles basketball fans of Lebanon are expecting from this competition."
Group B is completed by Qatar, Philippines and Syria.
FIBA Asia champions Iran will face Iraq, Chinese Taipei, Japan and Kazakhstan in Group A.
While Jordan and Lebanon will be using the tournament as a warm-up for Turkey, the tournament also serves as a qualifier for next year's FIBA Asia Championship, which will determine which teams from the region advance to the 2012 London Olympics.
Iraq will take part in a FIBA Asia tournament for the first time since playing in the FIBA Asia Championship in Bangkok in 1987.
The tournament will be played from August 7-15 in Beirut.
